Default mx5?

do miatas run a rotary or a standard engine, because rotary's dont have cylinders, but an ad for a miata says 4 cyl engine. im new to rotarys so please dumb your answers down.

they have inline 4cylinders. the new gen makes 176hp the second gen makes 140hp and the first gen depending on 1.8 or 1.6l makes between 110-140.hp.

people have swapped 13bt's into miata's but they dont come facoty with a rotary. the first gen's used to have a 5.0l mustang engine option, but it was a lil pricey and usually not worth it. its a great car evn with minor bolt on's and if you want something fun and RELIABLE go with a miata you can run them all day at an auto-x and than drive it the next day to work

90-93 1.6L 4cyl 116hp
94-95 1.8L 128hp
96-97 1.8L 133hp
99-00 1.8L 140hp
01-05 1.8L 142hp
04-05 Mazdaspeed 1.8L turbo 178hp
06+ 2.0L 166hp

there was NEVER a factory option for a 5.0L V8 engine... ever.

you could get Monster Motorsports to build you one with a new car way back in the day, but it wasn't from the dealer and cost a fortune.

waste of time, turbo miatas > v8 miatas anyways
