if you do alot of research there are alot of people that are blowing up there LSX motors with the sts kit. I personally know of a 03 GTO and a 01 SS that popped there motors, both went to 6.0L cast blocks and a front mount(i guess thats what you call it in comparason).
before the pop they were both in the 450-550 range to the wheels with supporting mods

...you say blow up...we say pop a head gasket.
to make a stock motor push 600+ ACTUAL horsepower is something in itself. so im not suprised at all they popped.
proper tuning/setup, and sensibility go a long way with boosting an LS1. will it continuously make 600rwhp, no probably not, not stock...will it do 500rwhp for quite a long time reliably, yes. with proper, detonation free, tuning. putting in timing till it knocks then backing it off a 1/2 degree, or running a 13:1 A/F, or trying to push a little turbo and lots of hot hair will all contribute to a relatively quick failure.

I'd hope you weren't running a F/I application at 13:1 for very long or i'm sure it would pop lol
I like to tune F/I cars to around 11.7/11.8:1 on Pump gas for any kind of reliable power ...

good ol' fashion v8 PoWa wit Da Nitrous, no need for da turbo!!!!!
I wouldn't want someone going under my car and unbolting my turbo
I've had a guy when working on my truck in my driveway ask me if he could "Huff" my exhaust for $5
100% true story. Crack makes people pretty fucked up.
