sts turbo
it is a compromise. some cars the plumbing and access is a bitch. you are right turbos need heat to spool but if you look at the specs the ar is very small to help it respond. it is non intercooled and is only designed to run a low amount of boost.
are there better ways?? sure but this is just a simple one. it is not going to put up like 500 horse but i bet it is still fun

thats retarded, the one reason why rotary turbos are so good is because of the strong exhaust pulse, you take that away and you have crap. I'd steal someones turbo if I saw it hanging on the ground just because I know they are a dumbass.

...im going to hold my tongue and not be mean with my response...so..i am left with asking...why do you believe this, answer detail would be appreciated.
btw, cars are making over 600whp with the STS setup. it is a good alternative for fbodies and cars with cramped engine bays with little room, and an awesome kit for a not so mechanically inclined person.
PS: not gravedigging...just not much going on in here, figure some good tech discussion is in order.

The LS1 guys over at LS1tech seems to like the STS turbo kit, so it can’t me that bad.

well i dont know like i said i have never seen this kit in person so i dont know how well it would work.
but correct me if im wrong wouldnt you loose lots of heat from the header to the hotside of the turbo 5-10 feet away. which would mean the gas isnt expanding as much now. so it would mean less pressure correct?
its still a good idea for people with cramped engine bays but what would stop someone stealing your turbo.
if they have such cramped engine bays, why not supercharge it like all the other muscle freaks and get the same amt of hp or better? turbos love expanding heat and exhaust pulses as close as possible. but if it works it works. i could prolly find a way to hook up my injectors in cabin and run a line all the way into the intake manny, but wouldn't it make more sense to put them where they belong?
also i know someone else that rear mounted his turbo on his z28, then moved it in the front bumper and it only spooled 300rpms sooner..same power it was just smoother, it didn't instant hit like the rear mount. But yes its a space and ease of install kit. its extremly easy to install, or take off (if it was a lease car for instance)
