Question Question about Seafoam

I was wondering if seafoam would be safe to use in a rotory engine? I have used it on my Nissan and loved the outcome, I just picked up a 86 Rx-7 and have never really messed with a rotory before.

Thanks
-Jeremy

Seafoam to clean the internals?

To clean the internals you would need just automatic tranny fluid.

Before you do any of this,You will need the care in an area, like a shop.Cause it will smoke like hell.

1)Pull one top plug out one at a time.

2)Get a quart of automatic tranny fluid.
Pour 1/2 in each rotor housing.

3)Let it sit for about 2-4 days.
The auto tranny fluid brakes down carbon deposits which causes the springs/and seals stick..Stuck seals/springs stick so bad,It seems like you blew a seal, which causes no,or low compresion.

)After it has sat for a few days.Start the car,and let it run.. it will smoke like hell.Let it run at idle for about 10-20mins.

This is what we call the ATF trick,in some cases it brings compression back up.If it had sticking seals.

You would need to change the plugs, and I would recommend doing an oil change after this.

One of my cars,I ran marval mystery oil with the gas,and it cleans real good. When i took the engien apart,it barely had any carbon build up.

Thats awesome, I'll give it a try. Its an 86 base model manual everything, white exterior and red interior. Its clean inside and out, the motor runs rough because it sat for awhile I figure it just needs a tune up to be good as new again. I picked it up from a friend I work with, it just sat in his yard for 6 months because he had another car.

You can do that and not damage your internals. All it does it dissolves the carbon. What plugs are the ones you have to open? I should try this since I will change my oil this week.

I would remove the top, because if you remove the bottom, and you fill it with ATF it will have a chance to leak out the bottom.

Im going to tell you this,if you do this at home,it will smok eup your neighborhood
I started my car at night, when I did it,and the smoke went about 5 houses down,on both sides of mine.

No it wont mess up the internals.BUT you will foul the plugs..
The longer the ATF sits in the car,the more it breaks down. But anything after 4-5 days is a waste.

An old piston trick is to put atf in the oil, quiets the lifters.Breaks down carbon

alot of people say this that atf breaks down carbon but i tell you what put an old piston face down in a pool of atf and it wont do shit in a week. water works just as well. run the car, pull a vac line let it suk it in, keep it revving let it settle down, take it for a nice highway blast almost always has a higher vac reqading than before the treatment. water also will not run the risk of fubaring your cat if you have one like atf can. sea foam i have never personally used. atf jst smokes so damn much

Dam,I did forget to mention ATF will clog cats..

I cant say if it did knock down carbon build up,I never took that engine apart.
But on MarvelMystery oil.I added it in with the gas like premixing,It worked good.. when I took that engine down,NO known carbon on rotor,or the moving seals apex/side/corner

But there was carbon on the springs,So I personally think it help either with the break down on carbon,or prevent more from coming.I got the car with 86k on it,and drove it till 110 used MMO for about 2 years..

Only down side I had,was when the gas level would get low,it just felt like it was picking up (deposites?) making car run a little rough.

ROFL , When i had to unflood my car. I smoked out the neighbor's houses next door to me. I smelled that shit too half way down the road from my hosue.

I did it at work once and it looked like someone put up a bonfire in the parking lot.
