I can get a good deal on a running MX-3 5-speed, just wondering the performance of them, and typical problems *tsb's* just looking for a reliable daily driver with a lil pep.

Decent. Has like the smallest V6 ever. If it has good miles you should be good. Look for oil in the spark plug holes. Rear caliper lock-ups (assuming it has disc brakes).

 

They handle very well. My good friend in NY has one. He loves it to death, but as with all older cars things go on the. He has had to replace the rear calipers, he also had oil in the spark plug holes and his distributer has died a few times. But 1.8 V6 is pretty good. If you find a good one that hasn't been beat to hell go for it. I will find out what forum he goes onto and post that for you as well.

 

the 1.8 V6 is pretty underpowered. but a nice improvement from the 4-banger. plus, if you plan on this being a big project, the mx-3 takes very kindly to a KLZE swap. People like the MX-3 because its pretty light and swaps with ease. check out cardomain. I know there are some done up mx-3's on there. maybe they list their performance stats. check it out. good luck =)
