im assuming that its an oil seal since when i take out my spark plugs, its soaked in oil. If i clean it up and put it back in then start the car, turn it off then take out the plugs, its soaked in oil again.

I am not really concerned by this since the car is showing its age and it has 200k miles on it. What im more concerned about is oil leaking past my flywheel, going to my clutch, making my clutch slip really easy (i cant have fun driving the car to much anymore). I did replace the rear main seal. From what i heard is that there is another "seal" behind the rear main seal that is kind of hard to get into. Anyone know what this "seal" is? they said it holds oil too.

that is the only main problem in my car, minus the coolant leak that i need to fix on the lower hose and the annoying vibration the car makes 'coz of solid/welded steel differential mount.

yes, I am aware of rotaries burning oil but i thought burning a quart per 500 miles only applies at fresh new/ rebuilt engines.
again, correct me here if I'm wrong.

I didn't know your plugs were soaked with oil, that sounds like seals are worn, but you say it only does it WOT? Sounds like it not that bad, and not a real issue, unless you don't check your oil often.

It probadly worn out seals. They make plugs that fire in oil.....

yes like what i said, its the oil seals that are going but not really concerned about it. i can still run it pretty hard but it slips most of the time....

well its maybe time for a rebuild. im just kind of scared abou rebuilds........they blow after 5k miles......that is why i am not really gonna to touch it till it really is time.... then its time to experiment with some 6 port porting.........

Levi, I understand rotaries burn oil thats not the point i was coming across. You would understand what I was talking about if your were riding behind Joe Saturday night when he gunned it when running with a Civic. It was not normal rotary oil consumption. Not a BIG DEAL though I made the post in an effort to mess with Joe after he apologized for the cloud of smoke saturday night when we were riding around looking for some races.

WOT = Wide Open Throttle.

PS: I know why rebuilds only last for 5 K.

why would that be? im pretty perplexed. is it because of wrong clearances on the seals and rotors? is it bad placement of coolant seal?

educate me please. im eager to learn more about it.

If a engine only lasts 5000 miles it wasnt broke in properly, or wasnt rebuildt corectly.

If a rotary blows smoke during start up then stops after warm up, it is Not a problem. That is from running the engine with low oil, then it will harden the oil o rings in the rotors and will allow oil to leak past while sitting. Or from condinsation in your exhaust, which will stop smoking sooner than the oil. If a rotary blows smoke during hard excelleration, TIME FOR A REBUILD! sorry. . .

my oil leak has gotten to a point that i have to add a quart every 4 days of just regular driving well about the smoke after hard acceleration..... unfuckinglucky me... well its still running pretty hard after 200k on it, and i dont think my car has been rebuilt yet.
