09.18.11 Brooksville Autox - Come out and I'll help you out
After seeing all the Honda's at Nationals and knowing how many Honda owners we have in the area I wanted to extend an invitation to the Honda Lounge to come out to the next Brooksville autocross which is held at the Hernando County airport.
You will run in the Novice class. You can run on your street tires but please make sure they will not cord out on course. Before you go to tech all loose items must be removed from the car to include floor mats. Your battery must be securely fastened, lug nuts torqued down and tire pressures will be checked. Your seatbelts and brakes must be in working order.
Since I have been doing this for 5+ years I am able to ride along with you and you with me, but as a Novice you cannot have anyone other than an instructor or experienced club member ride along with you. I or an instructor will show you the course as you drive it. There is so much you can learn as well if you go for a ride with us. Most of all you will have fun.
You cannot have a camera in the car unless it is securely fastened.
Your number and class "N" for Novice, must be on your car in a size and color that can be seen. Painters tape works great and can be picked up at Walmart or your local hardware store.
The club has loaner helmets. If you have a helmet, it must be DOT and SNELL ceterified and must be 2005 and up for certification. Unfortunately the SCCA, at this time, does not recognize Euro ratings on helmets.
You can run even if you are not an SCCA member. Please bring a cooler with drinks and lunch out with you. Frozen energy bars are great at events like these because they are simple and easy to pack up and eat.
The gate closes at 9 am so get there on time. When you register it will have more details. The course walks usually start around 9 am to include a Novice Walk Thru. I still go on these Novice Walk Thru's because you learn a lot and I'm learning that my line is correct. Drivers meeting at 10 am. You will run and work the course which means you get to go run after the cones we all some days end up hitting. You can probably expect 4 to 5 runs pending on the number of people we have at the event.
If you do not register you cannot come out to the event as this site requires all names to be handed in before the event per their requirements from Homeland Security
In order to participate at this event, you must register online (at dlbracing.com) no later than 9/8 at 11:59pm. Also if you have guests (non‐drivers) who will accompany you, you must send an email with their names to Albert Popalis by the registration deadline. Albert’s email is asp1981@verizon.net. If you have children and are bringing them with you to this event you must have someone to watch them while you are out on course. Safety is always our foremost concern.
The SCCA has a great group of people. We are friendly, helpful and egos are not in any of our way. It really is a fun time. It is a great opp to learn your car and its limits in a safe envrionment.
If you have any questions post them up. The price to register is on the site. I hope to see you out and I'll be there to assist as needed.
We are also happy to annouce that we have added an additional site to our event list. In October and in 2012 we will be holding autocross events at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlano, FL in the North Councourse. We hope this site will bring out more racers and members to the club.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

If you were thinking of coming out you have less than 30 minutes left to sign up.
btw I am thinking of bringing my CRX to this event since it is also an SMF car. Either way, if you see my cars you'll see me.
