not entirely true, as many people are willing but not able, and many are able but not willing. Also, I can think of at least 2 who are both willing and able, and we are enrolling for HPDE either in december or the first available sebring date in 2011

Event #1129: October 2- 3, 2010 - Sebring International Raceway, Sebring, FL
Event #1135: October 2- 3, 2010 - Sebring International Raceway, Sebring, FL
Event #1141: October 2- 3, 2010 - Sebring International Raceway, Sebring, FL
Event #1130: November 6- 7, 2010 - Homestead-Miami Speedway, Homestead, FL
Event #1131: December 4- 5, 2010 - Palm Beach International Raceway, Jupiter, FL

prices at the sebring HPDE sessions run from 286 to 489 depending on the number of days you run and what level of HPDE you are running at.

I am doing the whole thing in small steps, taking each HPDE level as I get the money to do it, while working on my car to meet with the H4 class of the Honda Challenge series.

The other route one could take to get a race license would be through SCCA, but they require that your car be complete and race ready before they let you out on the track, so NASA ends up being much better for someone who is financially impared.
