Has anyone done a restoration before?
I woke up this morning and started hunting a 78 Honda Civic to buy. My very first car was a 78 Honda Civic (r.i.p.). For some reason the restoration bug has paid me a visit and I'm tempted to try it on a 78.
Then I was thinking would I really restore it or would I play with it by updating the engine, interior, brakes, etc.
Anyone ever fully restore a car before?

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

I have done a few restores before, They are fun and it is enjoyable. However they are boring afterwards.
I prefer the resto-mod, Take the styling of a older car and update it with modern comforts and control.
Good luck......I had a cvcc and loved the hell outta that car!!

I agree with you that I would be more challenged by the update. I def have to think about resources and my limited skills.

I remember my 78 engine bay being really small. And a built single cam would be more than enough power for that car as it was pretty light.
I don't want to trick out the interior in any kind of way, just update the seats. I don't miss that wirey feeling on my legs. lol.

Ive done plenty of restorations on rare english/european cars...its an excellent feeling and a great payout, but you REALLY have to pay the means, both monetarily and physically, to achieve the ends. Do yourself a favor and restore the entire thing, starting by stripping it down to a bare shell and having it sandblasted and powdercoated. Its cheaper than you think and youll never have to worry about the tub again.

I wouldn't mind restoring a S800 if I could ever find one, Id try to keep everything original as possible exterior and interior but do some type of engine swap.. hmmm.
The F22C would be fitting swap for the original S chassis.. : P

ATTENTION.... installing a head gasket, head studs or pistons and rods in your otherwise STOCK engine dose not make it a "built" engine! stop listing you cars for sale saying they are built when its not!!
