Default b18c tech

Hey everyone, I am wondering a few things. I believe that the b18c1 and the b18c5 have the same specs but is there any major differences? Im planning on building the b18c1 bottom end using the gsr rods and ctr pistons with a b16a2 head. (almost a type r). Im just really concerned if the ITR rods are better in any way than the gsr rods. They both say P72 but the ITR has an "R" stamped on them. I also ran into someone today that wanted to sell me a set of used type r rods that have been shot peened. Let me know any details that would benefit me.

the ITR crank and rods are different from a gsr. i know ITR's use special bearings. im not sure if its because of the crank, rods or both. id just stick with the gsr rods tho and if u want arp rod bolts would be a good investment if u plan on revving it really high. shotpeening the rods wouldnt hurt but isnt necessary.

type R is 195hp, the GS-R is 170 hp. The crank on the type R is just a little different, it has more counterweights to reduce vibration. but I believe it still uses the same kind of bearings. if you want to run high boost turbo application then go out for the shotpeened rods, it'll be worth it.

Well for now ( ;0) ) Im going to go with an N/A Application. I have the gsr bare block here, I get my crank in a few weeks since this crank was a little damaged and brand new rod bearings. I am still going to replace all the main, thrust bearings and other necessary parts. Now I have changed my mind on the CTR pistons because supposedly it will put my compression over 11.5 and I will have pinging noises and have to retard my timing. Now, if I go with the JDM ITR Pistons, I will have around 11:1 CR and I should be fine with the 93 octane that we have here. Other than that, Skunk Intake manifold, ecu mapping, cams, skunk valve train, 65 mm throttle body, and a few other things going on in the head. Just strengthening the bottom end a bit so I wont hve to worry about locking it up later. Any opinions?
