Nope I ran my car at the track plenty of times with open header and no damage ever. If you screwed your car up it has nothing to do with running open header.

I know a hatch that was running open header and it was pretty damn quick, but its just like John said high comp all motor setup that loved to run over 9k rpms. But it was to fucking loud for me atleast
