Head tapping!!

I have a Crower cam and valve train. My head was tapping slightly, so I decided to adjust the lash and see if I could make it a lil' more quiet.
I set and double checked the lash. It started tapping worse! So, I waited till it cooled off again, and tried it once more, adjusting .001 less then what the cam card from Crower says on both in/ex. Still loud.

Any ideas?! Im stumped and I don't want to go lower, I don't feel like damaging my expensive valve train.

Does the tapping go away when you hit vtec? If yes then it is your lost motion assembly's. I believe there are four of them on a sohc vtec. Try easing into vtec and see if the tapping noise goes away.

Did you miss a shift or anything like that.

No, but thank you. Do I just retorque it down to spec? One of the lost motion assembly's bolts (1/2 inch long 14 mil) was wandering around my head after Collin finished my motor (he said he didn't remove any bolts in the valve train so I don't know how it got lose).

hey i know this sounds corny but make sure you are using the metric feeler gauges and not the standard ones,,,,,,,,,,,i did this ince and damn near lost a motor
