Default honda runs bad when its hot...

i have a 93 del sol,d16z6 motor, auto trans.normally it runs fine around town but if the weather is hot and i drive for an hour or so on the freeway when i pull off it starts missing and running poorly at stoplights.once it cools off its fine again.plugs, cap, and rotor have around 10,000 miles on them.i pulled the plugs and other than a little carbon they looked ok,so i cleaned and reinstalled them.any other ideas?

How does the wiring look going to the distributor? Have any wires been cut previously? How does the distributor look inside, under the cap and rotor? If you can't tell, I would be looking at the distributor being the source of the problem, lol! It does sound like an electrical problem.

the wires have never been cut,but it could be dirty in there.maybe some electrical contact cleaner sprayed inside and a good wipedown would be helpful, thanks for the reply.

o2 sensor is only a couple of years old.when i looked in the distributor it was clean and dry,no corrosion on the wires.only thing i saw was the metal contact on the rotor cap was not real shiny,so i hit it for a second with sandpaper just enough to knock the crud off.i guess time will tell.
