Default 1994 Civic leak

I was looking to buy a 94 civic, and after I went and looked at it tonight, I had a few minor details I need checked out.

There is a leak to the very left edge of the gasket that is under the valve cover, you can kinda see some material sticking out in the picture, and I'm not sure what this could be from. The man told me that he took the cover off and when he put it back on it didn't seal correctly, and that's it's only been like this for two days. Also, he said that the ps belt was rubbing on the timing chain cover, and I didn't know if that was common, as the worn belt seemed to make the pulley for ps wobble a bit. Help me out.? Advice is appreciated.

All I know is whenever I take the distributor off and put a new seal on it and for some stupid reason have to remove it again that seal leaks in the area you are speaking of.

Also on that left hand front corner there is a corner piece of the valve cover gasket seal that you will see sticking out.

When you put the valve cover gasket on it helps make sure everything is very clean and very dry and we use a little hondabond in some areas of the gasket as well.

Moved to tech.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

yes, that is excess gasket sealer that is supposed to put in the places where the gasket makes a 90 degree bend upwards. that is normal...however if its leaking that means "the man" did not put on a new gasket or new sealant, so that will need to be redone. and yes the belts rubbing on the timing cover is normal. the cover gets warped after heating up twice a day for 18 years....however its usually the alternator belt because its closer...the ps belt rubbing might mean its not on the right part of the pulley.

+1 Replace the gasket and seal it.-Bob

A worn belt should not make a pulley wobble.
Look closer.
Does it still wobble with the belt off?
