Default Need info about replacing timing belt and H20 pump

My wife has a 96 Civic EX and has about 106,000 miles on it. I think it is about time to replace the timing belt, while I am at it might as well replace the water pump.

My ??? is, I have never done this. How massive of an undertaking is it?

I cannot see paying $300+ in labor for $60-75 in parts.

I am reasonably mechanically inclined, is it possible/worth doing it myself.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Default belt

timing belts and labor aren't much, go to national auto and tire service center it should be around 50.00 for labor w/belt.the w pump, i have no clue, isn't that like inside the engine were you have to take apart half the engine just to get to it?

Just half, the side where the cam gears are. I did mine it took a few hours going slow. its not hard so i would say do it yourself.

biggest pita is getting the crank pully off, you will need a strong impact gun or the special tool to get it off. other than that making sure the timing belt goes back on lined up and with the correct tension is the only thing to worry about.
