I have a 94 accord ex I turn my key and the check engine light comes on, a moment before it turns off I hear the fuel pump kick on but some time it take anywhere between 5-30 min and then the light shuts off. Only once this has happened will the car start

 

That is what is suppose to happen. After you fuel pump primes the check engine light should click off

and the car should fire right up. I always have waited for the check engine light to go off before firing the car up.

You should hear three clicks from the main relay?

What are you trying to ask ??

 

Sometime it could take up to 30 min before the engine light turn off and untill then my fuel pump won't cut on

 

What car ? throwing any codes on the cel? the more info the more we can help you out.

Relay could possible not be getting enough current threw it due to the fact that it has a small crack on one of the solders?
Does it work fine when its cold ?

I have a 94 Honda accord ex I'm not sure of the engine light code because autozone won't check it and I have not done it yet the car run great is know when u try to turn it on is when u have the issue .... I tried changing the master relay to see if anything happen but there was no difference... I'm thinking in checking the ecm next but for now to get the cat on I don't even try turning the car over I simply open the ignition switch and wait untill the engine light goes off that when the fuel pump cut on and then once u start driving the engine light cone back on

 

replace main relay.
