all motor d16
What kind of power numbers would a d16z6 or y8 bored to 1.8, bumped to 10.5:1cr, and a moderate cam with built valvetrain likely put down?
Hey john, with a setup like this with a hondata, think you could squeeze out something to the tune of 170whp@8000rpm??

unless you just have all the time in the world and all the money to waste go for it i am sure you can get the numbers you are looking for... but you could get those numbers for alot less with a swap and a little extra... it would be cheaper, less time consuming and also you would still have a LONG way to go if you wanted more... which you will want more after about a week or two...

Just like he said with money you could make that power. Have fun reaching your goal
well i might as well add this John would be one happy man with all the dyno time you would need on that machine.

As much as I love the SOHC, I would have to agree. Lots more room for hp in a DOHC 1.6/1.8.
Granted you could get as much hp out of them stock as you would with your SOHC built, but you will run out of options ~>200whp With a DOHC it's closer to 300whp all motor. (Guestimation)

Maybe I just don't understand how a swap would be cheaper than a quasi-mild setup like that, sleeve/bore $800, pistons $400, cam $350, hondata $300, valvetrain $300, cam gears $250
Even with tuning you're still talking less than the cost of a swap while making plenty o' autox power...maybe I'm missing something.

you will need to throw rods in there too... the stock rods wont hold up to that abuse... thats about $500 added. trust me i looked into doing the same thing and all the little things added up real quick.
either way, you would find yourself up shit's creek without a paddle, you'd be in SM, and Leonard, Bill, and I will be there to insure you never trophy.
It would make decent power, but it wouldn't rival a solid b series swap in SM.
