I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Make sure every part installed is kept clean and not opened till the build is ready to be started. Then make sure all parts are within spec and the block is clean and triple checked..then u should be good to go..and make sure u know what ur doing or ask tons of questions most don't mind answering them but others are added and just say" use the search or google its your friend"

Micrometer is your BEST friend! Plastigage is a good second opinion. Make sure all crank journals are in spec, and not scratched or nicked. Make sure crank runout is within spec. Use quality bearings, and triple check your clearances.

I think it was Evan's Tuning that had a complete tear down/rebuild of a GSR, search for it, it'll probably help. Project Car mag also did a budget LS/Vtec build, kinda in depth. There's also a book on rebuilding b-series engines (they rebuild a B18C5 in it) in the auto section at book stores, but you have to hunt it down.

Take it slow and easy, don't rush things. If your tired, take a break and resume another day. Remember, if a girl (Chi Town Brat) could manage to assemble a engine (an engine! not a sandwhich) you can too.

Thanks for all of the info!! I'm sure i'll be asking a lot of questions in the next few weeks.. I figure i'll find a good block and crank, build the motor on a stand then drop it in in a weekend.

What cams are you planning on using with those 12:5:1 pistons? Buddy club 4's sound nice. Will this build be strictly a track setup? With florida weather i'd shy away from that high of compression on 93 pump and if you'll be using a b16 head. What bearings are you using? What injectors? What header? Definitely want to help ya out with some advice...
