I don't know about b-series, but stock cams and 12:1 compression is kinda finicky. Might be hard to get it to run well without knocking and still make decent power. Don't see why you couldn't run 12.5:1 compression with some wilder cams though.

2k will get you a good start.I would really look into cams and I would not go that high compression u will still make the same power with wiseco low domed pistons

^ This. A head package is necessary with that compression. And why not just save up some money and get some quality parts for some good power. I'm sure you'll be disappointed with the results you'll get in not be patient with the build. I mean if you plan on it just being a quick daily then why not? Itr cams aren't too expensive around $250-$300 used off of here and you'll be happy for your goals i guess. It's kind of odd that you have 12:5:1 wiseco's in the block but then and ebay header and stock cams. Fuel is another issue that you really need to adress. Look up some ls vtec builds on honda-tech.com. Do it right the first time around.

do it right and be patient,we wouldn't like to see you posting a thread saying ls/vtec failed. patients is key,be organized and clean and make sure you go over everything at least 4 times. have all the torque specs and sequences on hand. good luck.

When you look for a block check to make sure the caps don't move and they don't have a copperish color to them. This is a sure sign there has been damage done to the block and it will not be rebuildable.

btw thanks guys, if it wasn't for David Green and others I wouldn't know ish!

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.
