The german castrol is sold in Autozone as a 0-30 and says made in germany on th back. Been proven to run well at 7,500 mile drain intervals and is made from entirely synthetic PAO stock. Very comparable to Amsoil but cheaper at $7ish but can be had on sail sometimes for less. I have not found it anywhere but autozone and only in 0-30 which will work well in most daily drivers/performance cars. I run it in my evo. If you have a race motor with loose bearing clearances it might be a bit too thin.

I used to run Rotella T as a cheap low mileage oil that still had alot of zddp and phos but it appears they have changed the formula a bit recently and it might not be as good.

Rotella T makes for a good break in oil but not good for hi-po street cars (especially turbo cars) that run a richer af mixture, the gas that mixes with the oil breaks down rotella t faster than the diesel it was designed to be used for.

In the single cylinder 4 stroke race bike world Rotella is like gods gift to engine lubricant. Ferrari uses Rotella oil... Rotella is Shell, which is Ferrari.

dino... My engine has 175k miles now, and I have always been told not to switch to synthetic after 50k miles or so because it MAY cause leaks because its thinner. Once I get a new truck, its straight synthetic.

ok sure but we aren't talking about race bikes and race cars that get rebuilt every couple races with new oil, we are talking about running an oil that will protect the motor after a couple thousand miles of abuse. i didn't say the oil is no good i said the stuff on the shelf (which i'm absolutely sure that ferrari doesn't use) is not a good hi-po oil for a car driven often.

I run 5w-20 in mine. Mobile 1 with a K&N oil filter, every time.
