Heres what I dont understand. I ave driven cars without powersteering. Once your moving its fine but you do get the steering wheel wobble and going slow obviously your using 2 hands on the wheel. My powersteering rack with the pump not connected I could stll 1 hand even at slow speed. Why is this?

I swear mine was like butter and I'm not that strong lmao. AT a dead stop there was resistance but not where it was a huge struggle to turn and moving a half a mile an hour it was easy, moving like 3MPH it was like I can 1 hand this, idling around in 1st I could turn super easy lol. Then again my car is the fucking mystery machine, half the things it does don't make any sense at all lol

Edit: I forgot you have a '99... er... not sure if you can use an EG steering rack (as I've linked below).

Yeah, I think DXs had the manual steering rack. My friend's '95 HB was a DX I believe, and it had a manual rack from the factory.

Failing the attempt to buy a used one from someone (as I've looked before with no success), you can buy a remanufactured manual steering rack from AutoZone, for about $200 with core exchange. If this link works...

Duralast/Rack & Pinion (6856) | Rack & Pinion | 1994 Honda Civic DX 4 Cylinders 1.5L MFI SOHC | AutoZone.com

I'm guessing you could just use your PS rack as a core, lol.

eg and ek racks ARE different...yes a manual rack from a cx/dx will work BUT you need the change the knuckle on the joint from the colomn to the rack. it is smaller for the manual rack.
