Default sohc boost questions

im gonna be running an obd1 jdm d15b vtec-e block, with a d16z6 head, d16y8 intake manifold, b18b1 throttle body, .020 cometic headgasket, and arp headstuds, stock internals
compression will be at 8.04:1, i plan on using a t28, 310cc injectors,93 octane and a walbro 255 fuel pump, at 12psi

the effective compression ratio will be at about 14.6:1

will this be safe for daily driving?

many other forums say it will, just none are on this exact setup

please bring positive feedback only

ill rep everyone who helps

whats an estimate for a dyno tune on this setup?

and can i use my phearable p28 ecu if i get it retuned?

thanks everyone, and sorry for the newb questions

1. i wouldn't run stock internals.
2. i'd go atleast 550cc's on the injectors.
3. tuning depends on how many headaches the tuner runs into while working on it. they usually charge by the hour.

go with h-beam rods, high silicon pistons, a good set or cams (something around a 280/280) and get a good set of valve springs.

then once you get the parts take it too a machine shop and completely rebuild it, have the head surfaced and the valves re-faced, and have every gasket/seal in the motor replaced.

do it the right way. don't just swap heads and slap a turbo on it.

^ its a D series lol. This isnt some high end expensive motor, slap that shit together and call it a day. When it blows, buy another motor for $200 or upgrade to something better.

if that's what he wants to do then more power to him. he'll do that if he wants to go slow. i've said it before and it never gets old, speed isn't cheap.

If it's a D16-rods based D15B, then you'll be fine to about 220hp on stock internals. On a regular D15, maybe 180whp is it. D16A1's (old 'teg motors) have slightly thicker rods, not sure on the DOHC ZC's though.

Anything past that is pushing it. If your gonna build it, just do a basic Vitara Build. You can have all new bearings, most seals/gaskets, Pistons/Rods for less than $700 easily. You still need a few things though.

Blocks are easy to come by. That's what I wanted to do. Don't have thousands for a sohc. I got this motor on accident and I'm trying to make the best of it. Thiers still questions I need answered though. Mainly the comp ratio being so high at 12psi. I'll rep y'all as soon as I get to a pc and not an itouch. Thanks for all the help y'all!

Try to pick up a ex/si model transmission. Look for the code B000 stamped in a small circle near the drain plug area of the transmission. Those models have the shortest gearing for the D-series, but it's still long compared to what's offered for the DOHC guys.

Search the forced induction Frequently Asked Questions on www.d-series.com to help yourself out. Looks like you've got most of what you need covered.
