blown piston rings would be my assumption. If you got a lot of smoke coming out of your oil breather then your probably suffering from excess blow-by... and if your blowing out white smoke from the back, then your burning oil.
Blown Piston Rings.
Yes, thats my final answer

is it a slow knock or a fast knock?
Slow knock is bottom end.... fast knock is top end.
If it's a slow knock then I would once again advise getting some new rings installed.

Seeing how it isn't coming out of the exhaust "that much" it's the start of your rings failing. replace them before it becomes excessive and embarrassing. Trust me i've been there and done that.

No better feeling then hauling ass to pass someone and covering them in a James Bond Smoke Screen. ^-- Sarcasm

Sounds like the rings are shot. What color smoke?
blue = oil
white = water
black = gas

If it is blue which it probably is since you have blow by from breather and the dip stick tube then I don't know why anyone would tell you the head gasket because that just don't make sense.
Feel free to bring it by and I can take a look and tell you whats wrong with it. 727-768-9917 Terry @ T & C Racing

regardless of knock or no knock, it definitely sounds like he has fried piston rings.
