Fuck going fast
Alright, my commute is about to go up to 120+ miles a day for 5 days a week. I need GAS MILEAGE. I found this ecomodder site and they have pretty amazing ideas to get crazy mpg out of everything. A lot of them are dangerous though so fuck that. ( tire pressure to 60psi is one example).
Apparently, the HX and VX models have something called Lean Burn Mode. When you are in 5th gear and start to coast, the injectors are shut off and the car uses no fuel, but only the transmision to keep the engine moving. To me, this doesnt sound correct but what ever.
Anyways, I'm looking to see if I can see any improvments in mpg by swapping in a HX ecu (i dont need vtak) or getting a chipped ecu for gas mileage?
I know of a ton of ways to gain MPG so don't go posting those unless they are out of the norm!
The car is a 98 Civic EX manual.

I think all newer cars have DFCO. Decelleration Fuel Cut Off. Check out the green motoring section. Thats a long ass commute, but you got the right car for it.

Hopefully after I build something with a little more torque I should see better MPG

YOu can tune for baller ass gas mileage. Sure you wont have the power but you will definately get the mileage. One thing I was wondering, you can do boost by gear, can you tune by gear? Make 5th or 6th if you have it in economy mode so the car will be sipping on gas.
The motor is stock with i/h/e.
