ok u want proof look at a late 60's/early 70's muscle car cowl induction gm proved that it lowers intake temps by 30 degs back then

the hood spacers are nothing more than a form of cowl induction any hood and windshield meet point is a neg charge of air so lift the hood and u have a postive effect that pulls air down inside the engine cabin

and there are also a few R&D articles on diff sites look them up

so you want to lower the temperature of the exhaust manifold? you don't want to do that, a hotter exhaust manifold flows faster then a colder one and creates a better scavenging effect. just use thermal wrap on the manifold, buy better (grade A) bolts, take them to a shop and get them ceramic coated if you don't feel that's enough. use insulation on the intake tube, a spray bar on the intercooler and a thermal gasket on the intake manifold and you will lower the intake charge temperature.

and if you REALLY want to lower the intake temp then run water/methonal injection or a small amount of nitrous.

custom240sx is right in that everything will heat soak, especially the intake and the intercooler.

all i did to my car is replace the thermostat with a restrictor and straight wired my fan, i always turn it on at a red light. even on these insanely hot days my engine temp never goes past 1/4.

I have the back of my hood spaced upward about 3" with light weight hinge spacers plus a cold air box and cowl induction....to get cold air down the carb. The air filter is slightly pressurized. You can see it at the meets which I go to.

In your case, I would make some cooling fins for the intake, and put up a heat shield/cold air box, as well as pay attention to some of the suggestions you just read.-Bob

Folks, the general principle is that since this is the internet,
if something offends you, either ignore it or don't read it.

Since other people read what a person says, no one needs to
make themselves look like a jerk. Take it to rants and raves.

If it doesn't meet the TR standards, the moderators
will take care of it. Thanks.-Bob

also u can relocate the turbo more towards the bumper and get a vent in the bumper so it'll have air cooling it from the out side. you don't have to leave the turbo right off the header but its a bit pricy since they don't make kits to relocate the turbo u'd have to get the piping bend it and weld flanges on it. I ran a mustang twin turbo and we put the turbos right behind the grill the incoming air helped cool it down. u can even put the turbo up be hind the bumper just watch you're ground clearance and don't have it right up close to the bumper or you will melt it.

I wrapped up my heads with 2layers of the wrap and I am so happy to say I can feel the differnce when I open the hood after a long drive..I even have a lot left I may wrap 2 tubes together then wrap the bottom of the header to protect the heat from the oil pan for longer engine life..so wrap does work well.
