siR2 tops out at 90mph
My friend has a 2000 civic ex, and he swapped a siR2 motor in. His motor seems to have a lot of problems right now. First the ecu that came with the motor is obd1 and he couldn't make it work with his obd2 car. So he is running a sohc ecu on his dohc vtec motor. He is also getting very strange speeds out of his gearing. He only gets to 45 mph at the top of second, and 90mph at the top of 5th. He is getting fuelcut too early, as the rev limiter stops him a little over 7k rpm. He recently ordered an itr ecu for his car, but what's happening with his car right now?
well if the sohc ecu isnt vtec it isnt kicking in obviously but its ex..so i assume he is running the stock vtec ecu. i believe the dohc ecu for that motor has a much more aggressive fuel curve than that sohc...not to mention diff red line.. only thing i could think of that is making the engine top out so low is its not gettin the fuel it need, no vtec(if not the stock ecu), whatever it is get it fixed asap...would suck to blow a new motor. try sellin the ecu to get some cash for another ecu... or just get it chipped or something for like $50 but im sure there are alot more people here who have a better clue on whats happening than i. hope i could help
