LS/R Swap?

if u have a LS ecu u will never hit vtec even with a vafc.

Okay,

DO NOT try to run the setup with a vafc, it will run like shit. Get a vtec ecu, it will even be cheaper. I don't know what year car you have so if you have 88-91 get a pr3 or pwo (both b16a1 ecu's), 92-95 a chipped p28 will do nicely or a stock p30 or p72. If you are 96+ I'd still recommend you run the p28 w/ a jumper harness but any obd2 b-series vtec ecu will work if you match up the year right (96-98, 99-00). Running the ls ecu with the vafc even if it will activate vtec is not the right way to do it, if you are going to be spending money anyway do it right the first time.

If you are going to be buying the itr head off a blown motor get it checked out by a machine shop first.

i agree. make sure the valves are closing all the way. and look inside the intake/exhaust ports for oil on the valves and shit.
make sure the seals are still good.
