weisco pistons...need help
I know Alpha has tuned a couple of them I would have to look in his forum. Seen many on H-T. If a b16 is healthy a nice turbo setup it will make 300+/- tuned on pump.

The first link yaro posted is a very good friend of mines car... He's doesn't get on here much... Motor is stock b16 block, stock gsr head, with arp headstuds... On the graph yaro posted, he made 392whp on 17psi I believe... The boost was turned down for reliability purposes... Car still makes 325whp on 12lbs....
There's absolutely nothing wrong with b16s when all you're looking for is moderate power.... This car has been taken to the track several times making multiple passes each trip... If the motor is tuned correctly and is a healthy motor to begin with, there should be no issue making 300+whp with a b16 boosted

ok well my boy has an fully built ls bottom with an stock gsr head that was built and tuned at cft and he only make 320 on 12lbs to me thats pretty shitty when my bonestock ls motor on 14lbs make 310whp...and i dont like ls vtec so thats why im just getting an b16a getting rods and pistons and replacing all the bearing and then gonna do an semi built head and i think with my turbo set up and a good tune i will see 350whp....but thanks for all the info
Just because that happened to your boy doesn't mean its what happens to everyone. It cost money to go fast and it has to be done properly. I make a fair amount of power for a stock gsr on 11 psi. I have peoples that make 800+ on ls/vtak n gsr's. It all depends on who builds/tunes it and what parts are being used.

Build whatever motor YOU want..it doesnt really matter. People were just trying to suggest the best option for the buck. Having a Type R, a Jdm GSR, and a boosted LS/Vtec I have alot of respect for the LS/Vtec.

honestly to answer the original question, the rods arent going to be the weak point. The ringlands on the cast pistons are going pop before anything. stock bottm ends in dohc vtec hondas are pretty much bullet proof. if i were you, and you were going to stick with the b16, i would put forged pistons in it that are the same as stock compression. then you will make more hp on less psi of boost, and since you dont have to worry about cast pistons, you can turn it up until you reach your power goals. make sure your turbo setup is tuned properly. otherwise your cyl pressures will be high enough to spin a rod bearing. thats just my .02.
on another note, ive seen stock block ls motors make over 300 at the wheels, and a stock block gsr will easily make over 350 at the wheels with the right turbo setup and tune.
