Checking CEL.....

Default Checking CEL.....(Update 4/4/10)

B18c1/ CRX/ chipped p28

Car runs great in all gears. After 10 mins of driving the CEL will come on and ecu will go into limp mode. I turn the car off to check the CEL and it runs good again (then repeats the problem). Iam unable to check the code b/c it goes away.

4/4/10: I drove the car until I got the check engine light. I have previously cut the A13 wire and drove w/ them twisted together. I left the car running and grounded the wire running away from the ecu, this made the cel say on and do nothing. Then I tried grounding the wire going into the ecu, this did not even display the cel.

I repeated both steps above the natural way (turn car off and into the on position). I got the same thing happen. Cel came on but there was no flashing.

should be like a yellow and black on your converion harness that you connect......But i am not sure because i do not know what conversion harness you got...

Not sure of the conversion harness that was used (bought the car like this). the person used a no name ecu jumper harness then ran all the other items from the motor to the ecu...What does this yellow/back wire go to... maybe I can source it from the object to the ecu. thanks.

conversion harness...i dont know what PIN it is off the top of my head. I know you just need to ground it for the check light to light up and flash..

White - O2 Sensor signal - D14
Green - O2 Sensor signal Ground - Ground on transmission
Black - O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Control - A6
Other black - heater circuit power wire - A25

Before I installed the O2 sensor the CEL would come on around the same time it does now. But, before the install of the O2 sensor it would bogg in first gear, then run fine.

After install, CEL would come on and go into limp mode.

Both times I could not check the code b/c it goes away when I turn off the car.

May be I should switch the 2 black wires... but I dont want to risk frying the ecu...?

You need to start by pulling the code. Go to phearable.net and he has all the pin outs so you can find the one for the check engine light. It is foolish to start replacing parts when you haven't pulled the code. Since the car clears the code when you shut it off then don't turn it off.
