LS Vtec conversion
I've got an '01 integra with the B18B1 LS motor with 126k miles and would like to know what the total cost for the whole conversion would end up being? I know some ppl prefer B16 head and others recommend a GSR head. Some ppl seem to go all out on it, and others just do the basics.. which i know would most likely compromise the reliability in the long run. But anyway, I would like to get some advice/input from anyone that has done the ls vtec conversion and knows what they're talking about. Also, If i could just get a complete list of everything that i need, i would be willing to pay someone to do it properly. I have done plenty of research on it, but none of the information seems to be entirely accurate or detailed. I would like to keep as many stock components as possible on my engine, because it already runs perfectly as is. I just really miss having vtec lol i dont want to go crazy with it, because i am on a tight budget and this would have to be a fairly slow process.. So like i said, if anyone can give me very accurate details or would be willing to do all the work themselves, please give me a price quote. And please dont bother giving me some kind of outrageous pricing because like i said, I have done my research and i'm not ignorant. if your not going all out your still looking at around 500 or so thats your head/ecu/wireing/headgasket/and vtec oil line..your best bet is to shop around for a nice cheap b16 head dont waste your time with a gsr head..plus you have a 01 so you can keep your water pump and oil pump with no worries...

I am starting to become a little bit skeptical about doin ls vtec. Wouldn't it make more sense money wise to just build the motor + bolt ons? I would really like to go for around 150whp.. but i know that is gonna put me over $1000 bucks most likely. This is what i had in mind:
ported/polished head, crower valve train
crower 403 cams, stock cam gears?
jdm p30 pistons
stock LS rods
stock LS computer - no vafc or anything else of any kind
stock header or possibly an upgrade if worth it.
cold air intake
skunk2 intake manifold
etc.
Not sure on what to use for exhaust. I want something quiet tho
What kind of pricing are we looking at for that list? I need as much input as possible! Again, I will most likely not be doing the work because i have no time, i work 50+ hrs a week. Rangcrx, PM me and let me know what you think.

For all that WASTED money u will spend to build that ls head..just putting a stock b16 head will give u more power and more to work with..building the ls head is not worth it..

Find a cheap head=350 or so
Ls headgasket=44$ felpro
Vtec oil line with adaptors=25$
Plug and tap the head oil passage=75cents
Ecu=depends on going to obd1 but urs is 01 so
Wireing =what ever some charges that knows how to run it
Then its ur own call if your going to change out the pistons for some pr3,and add some arp bolts and new bearing set=160$

good set of LS cams $300 15 hp gain
LS Vtec conversion $500. min. 25 hp gain.. Plus the cool vtec sound
I looked into building my Ls or Ls vtec and i'm doing ls vtec in my DA. good set of rods and 12.0 to 1 com pistons.. hehe

Well, i am gonna be putting around $1000 into the whole thing. So wherever that gets me, that's how its gonna be for now. And any personal opinions from drivers that went from ls to lsvtec on whether this is actually worth the money? lol i dont wanna be spending all this time n $$ for only a slight increase in power but nothing substantial enough to put a smile on my face.. u know what im sayin?
