I am putting a 96 SOHC VTEC into an 89 CRX Si. I noticed that the VTEC solenoid has a single wire on a connector and a 2 pin sensor. I assume you feed the single wire with +12V to activate VTEC Is the other sensor for?

Also the 96 motor has a sensor at the cranks timing gear but the 89 does not is this sensor nessecary???

And last will the 96 clutch/pressure plate/flywheel work on the 89 Si tranny???
Thanks

Actually I am just swaping the long block. I will be using the SI wireing intake dist etc. I dont even care about VTEC yet I just want to run the correct wire for it to the ECU area for when I do hook it up. I will probably get a Zdyn ECU that is for this app.

Yes 12V source to VTEC solenoid wire.
The other plug in question goes to the VTEC pressure switch.

I am swapping sensors from the 89 to the 96 to be compatible with the 89 ECU The oil sensor fits but what about the water temp sensor? The 89 has a water temp sensor near the oil sensor(first pic). The 96 has what appears to be a block temp sensor near the oil sensor(sesond pic) and a water temp sensor in the flange that the radiator hose connects too (third pic). The 89 sensor will not fit into either hole on the 96 block. What do I do now??? is there a 92-95 sensor that may work.
