Default Vtec not engaging, need help!!

I have a 95 accord ex w/vtec. I had the motor rebuilt, but the block was bad, so I used a block from a 93 accord. Now the vtec won't engage. I get no codes concerning the vtec. Can anyone tell me if the block has anything to do with the vtec not functioning??? The top half of the motor and the head are the original ones that came with the motor. Also, does the crankshaft have anything to do with it??? I am new to owning an import, so my knowledge is limited, so bare with me. I have some mechanical experience, but not with Hondas, especially not with a vtec motor. Any info would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

The only code that pops up is code 6, and I replaced the temperature coolant sensor and the code still pops up. No other codes come up. BTW, I just replaced both coolant sensors, on the thermostat housing and the outlet. Code still comes up, but no other codes.

So back to my other question......Is the block from a 93 compatible with a 95 block? And does the vtec have anything to do with that?

The problem with Vtec not engaging is not related to the block. It will never/ever engage with code 06. The ECU is protecting the motor by not letting Vtec engage because the coolant temp is either too cold or too hot. You replaced both sensors which the one wire one is Fan switch, the other is coolant temp sensor. Does the fan come on when car heats up? Are sensors new or used? What ECU are you using?

not all of it is true, the 1-wire one is the temp sensor and the 2-wire is the fan switch.

did you replace the one with 1 wire? did you reset the ecu? also if you did that and you still get a code, theres a fault in the wire from the sensor to the ecu.

go to hondahookup.com and get the factory service manual. if you follow its step by step to the letter you will have the car fixed. 100% guaranteed.

i didn't replace the one wire sensor. i will change it tomorrow. So far i changed the oil pressure sensor, fan switch sensor (on the thermostat housing, and the one on the outlet), and the temp coolant sensor(the one next to the distributor-2 wire). That's all of them. If the last sensor I'm gonna change is the problem, I wasted about 80 bucks on new sensors for nothing! On the other hand, at least I have all new sensors! Oh I almost forgot, yes I did reset the ecu. Thanks everyone for all your help! I will post tomorrow and let you know if I am a success or a failure! Wish me luck!
