ahh totaly missed that. she just got rid of a caviler that had that same problem. but regardless just an update.....so she came home from work (with the key) just for shits and giggles i put the key in and turned it and it started fine not a problem. thats what has been happening. absolutly nothing but then outa no where it starts. i just got off work so im gunna see if it starts then if not mess with the gear shifter.

It's not really a switch per say...it makes contact between 2 wires when engaged (put in park or neutral)...Just clean those contact points up really well and make sure it is making full contact before reassembling the shifter area.
