Default Which spark plug heat range should I run?

JDM ITR, I have 2 sets of NGK-R Iridium plugs. One set is 6 and the other is 7. 6 is what was called for by the factory but would I see any benefit running the colder plug (7)?

Some people would go by the color of the insulator as to it
being too hot or too cold.-Bob

Those test used to work good before additives in gas were put into place, still works to an extent. I can read plugs so maybe I should throw the 7's in there and see what they look like after some runs. When I pulled them out before the motor was even started they looked rich.

They original plug was probably a 7 huh. Due to little higher compression and more aggressive fuel/timing maps than a usdm motor.

The 7 will use more fuel, run cooler, and help if you have any detonation.

Burning cooler will not burn all the gas in the combustion chamber.

Run stock plugs unless you have bumped compression or introduced nitrous or forced induction.

never thought of that lol I cant remember if the specs I was looking at was for JDM or USDM. Whoever owned it in Japan put in NGK Iridium R 7 heat range.

I just looked at the box I'm running BKR6EIX. I dont even remember how much I paid but with how damn expensive my motor is, $40 or so for plugs is nothing lol I wasnt about to take any shortcuts, I want the best in there. Well now I know I'm good with the plugs I put in. And I have an extra set of plugs for different mods later down the road.
