There is power leading to the starter we checked it.

We push started it and dropped the clutch and it cranked up.

We took the starter off and hooked it up to the battery. It worked but my friend said it might be a weak starter.. It didn't have any torche. He put a wrench on it and it wouldn't even move his hand.

Think it's a weak starter? It has quit a bit a crud on it.

You were right about the plugs falling off though, we found out thats why my break lights weren't working as well.

If you push the button in while you're trying to start it, the car will think the clutch is not depressed, and not start. If the plug is out then it will always think the clutch is pushed in and start without pushing the clutch in.

I would check elsewhere, unless the rubber thing broke and the brake lights were on all night and there wasn't enough power to start the car, which is what I would bet. Since after you jumped it the fuel pump primed. I'm going to say dead battery is at least one of your problems

Yeah we checked the clutch button, it's always out which I believe means it should always start that way.

I have an optima battery.. don't think it's ever died but I'll check just to make sure.
There is power all the way to the starter (sparked like crazy) so I'm not sure what else it could be but the starter. Thanks for yalls help it's much appreciated. +rep

bad starter. those thing have some torque in them. try switching it out with a known working one and see if its a fix. if not you'll need to make sure youre ignition system is working properly starting at the steering collum.

You know what your right. I forgot the switch goes bad itself, you have to disconnect it and jump the connector using a paper clip or speaker wire, same thing as checking a cel. See if that works.

I just don't want you to buy a starter if you don't need one, these are the free/easy things it could be.

I would replace the rubber bumper before doing anything else,
then charge up the battery.

Post up what it took to fix it, when you are done. Thanks.-Bob

just for the record....the clutch pedal may have two switches on it.
one is for the starter relay and the other is for the cruise control.

The one for the starter relay is the uppermost one and does need to be pushed in to allow the car to start.
the upper switch is diffucult to see and the plastic piece for the pedal is exceptionally hard to install.
if you look more closely, you will most likely find this is your issue
