For those that was running the ls motors before the vtec head swap was there much difference up to 3-4000rpm after going vtec? My compression ratio is bumped up to 11:1 (w/ctr cams ventuli plate itr intake manifold greddy exhaust everything else stock); yet I cant really feel a difference before vtec. I cant really hear vtec either (short hot air intake) it does make a different tone but I havent reved past 6krpm yet. So far it doesnt feel like its much faster (500 miles on the motor). Is it just my motor or am I expecting too much? Do you guys feel a great difference between the two motors? Thanks for all input.

i have a ls vtec with b16a1 head with pr-3 ecu.
vtec at 5300. gov at 120 mph.
is ur vtec wires run correct?
is ur vtec oil line 4an or bigger. im using a 6 line.
someone put a 2an line on my shit and vtec would never hit.
i also had a stock ls b-4 i went vtec. now it seems a little faster before vtec but not much more than before but after 5300
hehe. fuk dat ls bullshit valvetrain. i also have 11:1 comp ratio
so you should be fuckin flexing out hardcore with that setup. if ur doggin something is wrong. u got vtec oil pump to right? and all other shit to i hope.

also vtec depends on how hard u press gas down sometimes i would just ease it slow as fuck past 5300 and i wouldnt hit vtec cuz of the TPS i think? u gotta be over 20mph and ur engine needs to be up to temp for vtec to hit. and of course u need oil. when im low oil my vtec is noticablly weaker.

Thanks. Thats very helpful. Yeah I did pretty much everything to make the ls/vtec reliable. Except for the vtec water pump but I dont think that is absolutely necessary. Im pretty sure I did the wiring correctly no codes. I do hear a difference in tone so I think my vtec is working. Im still breaking in the motor so I havent gotten on it that many times yet. I will soon though. Thanks again.
