2002 civic ex motor
has anyone gotten a chance to see a 2002 civic ex motor? its my understanding that these engines are mounted like all other d-series rather than inversely like the k-series. and if thats true then these motors could bolt into older civics right?
thanks chet.

to answer your question....yes and no. the 2001+ civic sohc motors are d series sharing similar configuation size etc. BUT engine mounts entirely different including front mounting of the alternator between power steering pump and a/c compressor....the is no provision for a distributor and the engine sensors operate in a completely different manor. the added displacement comes from slightly longer stroke but the crank is a new design...different size main bearings. i believe the bell housing is the same so earlier trans could be bolted on but 01+ trannies are now cable shifted---not rod shifted as they have been. could it be done...yes---would it be worth the time money and effort....no way.
