lower seat height
So i've just come to realize that i'm a little big for a 96 Civic EX coupe. If the seat is in a racing position/more upright my head is so close to the roof you can just squeeze your hand between. With a helmet forget it the helmet is against the roof. The models with a sunroof the roof inside is lower to fit all that stuff up there. I noticed the seat rails could maybe have an inch taken off. Is that a bad idea? Are seats like Recaro or Bride lower than factory seats? My head rest even on the last notch the top is at the middle of my head. Weird I never noticed how close my head was until I put a helmet on. Obviously i'm not driving around with a helmet on but I believe they require them for drag racing or track racing.
some good info. my car right now is SLOW! I would be embarrassed to take it to the track how it is right now. some call me crazy but I would like to hit 12's with it eventually. Road racing though I dont think it matters how fast your car is for the helmet rule.
Road racing (including instruction classes) and autocross require a helmet.
Whatever you do make sure the seat is secure with real bolts, not some of the get-by stuff people come up with like wood screws.
Maybe you can use the rails from a racing seat like Bride and interchange them with your stock seat rails? Not sure on this someone may be able to tell me if this idea would work or not.
And yes Sebring is a blast. I want to get back out there one day soon.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.
