b20vtec
so im thinking about buying a hatch with a b20 in it. not sure if it is vtec or not. im kinda a newb to all of this but i was wondering what would it take to make it vtec and would it be something i should try?

im going to tell you the lesson i learned very well
buy the car that you want thats already fast cause its to expensive to do it your self unless you have tons of money
ask if its vtec and if its not dont buy it cause its slow without vtec and to vtec it right it will cost a couple thousand so unless you got that lying around i would not if you want any more advice of what ive learned or other qu you can pm me ok

My advice,dont listen to this guy.
There's nothing wrong with buying a car that's already fast,but if it's modded,you have no idea as to what the history of the car is,and what issues it already has,oh and built>bought.
A good working vtec head will cost you anywhere from 300-700 bucks,the conversion kit is 280 from golden eagle(Honda/Acura Vtec Full Conversion Kit, W/ 84MM Gasket [Honda/Acura] : Golden Eagle Manufacturing).
Then you'll need a chipped ECU and a tune to make the most of the setup,which is another 300-400 bucks.
I don't know where spartan got the idea that it costs 2 grand to put a vtec head on an ls/b20 block.

^^ bud what you just listed right there is about 2k lol and also if he cant do it himself he has to pay someone which is more money so idk why im so wrong when what you just said is exactly what i said and i didnt tell him to buy a moded car but instead of buying a ls im saying buy a gsr so he wont have to try to mod it it is already fast and he can use it as a dd

and also he doesnt even have a car yet so if he bought a non vtec car for 3-4k which was his plan then he has to spend more money on vtecing it or doing w/e he wants to it then hes spending over 5k when he could buy a nice gsr for 4k
