VTEC head to start....then a variety of different mod combos....supercharger or turbo is a sure bet. But Im no expert.....Ask Mr. Self Destruct.....hell know the best combo.

I may be wrong but why not Just Get new intake system New cam shaft the longer the lobes the more air can get in Correct? Then Super Charge it? I dont to much know about these Bolt ons I hear so much about perhaps someoen could explain it to me. I Hear that 3 doors and HBS are faster because they weigh less?

Depending on how much highway driving and your budget you might consider getting a a b16a or gsr tranny. That should help your acceleration quite a bit. As far as the cams I think that crower and crane makes them as well as gude and jg but I cant recommend the jg or gude because of thier reground nature AND NOW I HAVE HEARD BAD THINGS ABOUT THE CROWER ONES BREAKING. You still should be able to take gsrs with a stock ls/hb set up. A guy around here runs a 94 si with an ls milled head(a lot shaved) ported polished and cams and he runs mid to high 13s I think He is running a b16a tranny but Im not sure. My sohc 93 si with i/e ran a 15.4 On street tires you will be faster than gsrs dont worry

put a B16A head on there with some I/H/E and some cams. LS/VTEC is the way to go. youll beat down that GS-R easily.

dont get crane theyre crap.

dont worry about cams yet put in the motor and be happy with it.Why do you want to beat 15-sec. GSRs? aim a bit higher.

if you decide to build youre motor wait till you have the cash for a VTEC head then id do ITR/CTR cams or some JUN/Toda if you have the money. Dont build it half-assed with reground redneck cams.

Good luck w/ youre project.

LSVTEC. End of story. I have a hatch and yes it is slightly lighter if you get a b16 head/pistons you will spank the gsr(depending on mods of course) with time to light up a smoke. The torque increase is what will do it right off the line. Dont recommend crane cams. If you want to spend that $350 get a head. If you want to go another route get a ctr or itr intake cam or int&ex cams. Then get some cam gears. That will give you a jump but not nearly as much as an lsvtec. The head is the most bang for the buck but next I would have to say is the cams & gears & dyno tune by destruct.
