I am looking to put a bigger rear swaybar back on my Si...i took off my old 22mm due to the fact that i had seen everyones rear subframe ripping from the stress.

Now im looking to get another one perhaps a 21mm skunk2. I want to have the rear subframe welded up w/ plates on it but i dunno where to go to have this done. Anybody had this done around here? What does it involve and how much does it cost?

Also--can i buy the Mugen reinforcement plates from King Motorsports? They dont list them on their site...how much do those cost?

Thanks in advance...

I was in the same position as you. Saw too many subframe tears and before I went to a larger bar I needed to reinforce it somehow. Was going to take Robs advice and get Tito to go ahead and weld some plates on but ended up going to Comptech route because Im lazy like that. Tito will be a hell of a lot cheaper than going and getting a Comptech rear sway/tie combo but but I think the Comptech route is easier on us lazy individuals. Suspension Techniques also makes a setup similar to the Comptech setup and its a hell of a lot cheaper so that might be another alternative for you.

The comptech setup doesnt really help against subframe damage...ive heard of many people tearing up their subframes w/ the Comptech setup so im looking for alternatives.

Sorry man but Ive gotta stamp that with a big bullshit stamp.
Ive never ONCE heard of that happening anywhere from anyone. Have you ever seen one before or installed one?
The subframe is beefed with about a 1/2 of aircraft grade aluminum and the 22mm bar is suspended off of that. If anything is going to rip itll be the steel sway bar bracket from the aluminum tie bar not the subframe.

On a side note Im running a 22mm Mugen rear sway and have yet to tear the subframe. Though I do have the reinforcement brackets.

Hell it doesnt matter to me whether you believe it or not i know from experience that subframe rippage can occur all too easily on Civics and the Comptech sway/tie combo is far from immune to it....if you want to spend all that money on a sway/tie believing youre safe from tearing your subframego right ahead but when it does finally rip youre still gonna have to have it welded back together again...i suggest you do a little more research before you go calling info bullshit ... i was just trying to let you know before you wasted all that money.

BTW-- Robster if you could find his number or website email or pm it to me id really appreciate it. Thanks.
