Default Energy Suspension Motor Mount Inserts...

Have you ever done the Motor Mount Inserts?

I have heard that it causes a lot of vibration for some, others, it improves things significantly.

I'm already pulling the engine, so it will be easy.

Question is: Is it worth it? Will I hate it?

I also noticed that for my 2000 Civic EX coupe, they sell 2 kits. One kit has 3 inserts, the other has the other 2. (I guess between the motor and tranny there are 5?)

Thoughts?

dont do it...theyre just zip tied in...if you want a real mount insert go to home depot and buy a $5 tube of polyeurethane chimney sealer...tape the bottom of the mounts closed and fill it up. one tube will do all 3 torque mounts, (you need a 99 cent caulking gun) and it will take 2 or 3 days to dry...ive done it many times and it does vibrate a lil but what do you expect from raceing style mounts? the energy ones do vibrate too...until the zip ties break that is (about 5 or 6 months). i just pull one mount off at a time and the car will drive fine with one torque mount missing.

ive heard that this stuff called "window weld" that the part store sells will do the same thing and dry in a few hours but its $20 a tube so ive never tried it.

also if you do this, dont try and tape a piece of cardboard to the bottom because it will stick and your mount will look like ass. i have successfully used wax paper and cardboard taped to the bottom, it keeps the flat shape better than tape can. you will have to cut a hole in it though.

Go to ace, home depot, or lowes. Get a bolt, 2 washers, and a lock nut. Put through insert, tighten.

Window weld, some time, and a drill will work wonders. Use the drill to drill holes into the window weld and old rubber, once dry, to make the mount a little softer. The more holes you drill, the more flexable the mount is, and the more flexable the mount is, the less it will vibrate. And no to the ES inserts because of the zipties, they do break.

Hmm... never heard of the zip tie thing. I think I'll try to bolt in. I think I'm going to call ES and ask them about it.

I have them and I currently have way too much slop in my rear mount. The vibration is about the same but I just didn't get what I wanted from it. Ill be filling the mount or buying a set of billet ones.

*Edit* I have to say though, that I have this problem because I am using a hydro to cable conversion and only have 3 mounts, and only one of those has the insert...and that one was a little cracked before I put it in, i can only imagine its worse now.

With 2 inserts in and all 4 mounts I did notice a difference and I liked it for the relatively cheap cost of the inserts. But if I weren't worried about vibration id spend less and fill them in.

Say, do you have any pics of the bolt/washers setup and exactly
where you put them?

How long do they last?Thanks.-Bob

for the price i think they are great. While window weld does work nicely, the es bushings arent horrible
