Im changing an axle on my b16al CRX and when I pulled the axle out no tranny fluid spilled out. Is this normal? I often here of people making a mess when pulling the axle out.

Am I low on tranny oil? How can I tell?
Can you ever have too much tranny oil?

Thanks
Mike.

Ya youre probably a bit low on tranny fluid.
Look at the side of your tranny case and youll notice two fairly large bolts. One accepts a 3/8 drive ratchet and is used for draining the case. The other accepts a 15mm or 17mm socket (could be wrong just thinking off top of my head) and is used for filling and checking fluid levels. Basically you just take the upper bolt off and stick your finger in there to see if the fluid is up to the hole. If not fill er up. Might also want to take a mirror and check it out and see what type of state the fluid is in.

honda is the stuff. Its always what I throw i my car. Anyway Bill i think that the Tranny fluid takes a 1/4 inch drive to open it up not the 3/8 but I bet that youre right since you are the man!

Its a 3/8 drive and a 17mm. With the car level just fill it up until fluid is coming back out of the fill hole. Takes about two and a half quarts for b series trannys and at $4-5(from Honda) a bottle it is a bit pricey but worth it.
