i am trying to see what the best tranny is for ls/vtec setup
i have a y-1 ls tranny and the gears are to long.
or can i just replace some of my gears and get a good combo of gears?
also if any one wants to trade with me let me know.
i have a 93 ls tranny with act clutch and new disc. disc has 2500 miles on it.
i need either b16gsr i think.

one of the more popular things right now is a hybrid tranny combining gears from ls and gsr. i would think you would want a gsr trans with ls 5th or whatever housing you want. how often are you going to be driving in 5th vs racing in 5th? pretty sure you wont hit 5th on the 1/4 and i pray that you arent going so fast through corners that you need a gsr 5th.

plot your speed power and gears on the dyno you dont want to run a setup that will drop you out of vtec if you are racing. also i believe john told me that they all have the same 1st gear. stock red on a gsr is about 62 and on the ls is 58 for 2nd although this is a jump in red by over 1k rpm. an ls 3rd at 8.5 is about 101 vs gsr at about 88 at the same (or was it at 8k?). you prob just want an ls 5th. or go with an si trans.
