D16Z7 ( vtec ) Question
ok..So..1996 - 00 Civic EXs have d16z7 engines in them which is a sohc vtec..Ive seen VTEC engine heads for sale on like Ebay before..and My question is..Would it even be helpful to remove my original vtec head and replace it with a diffrent one?? The seller said that it adds 50HP to the car..But I dont understand how it could add HP to my engine..if my engine is already a VTEC...Am I missing something?

yo that might even have been my auction you were refering to.... what i meant was if you slapped the head on a 1.5 liter non vtec bottom end with some tuning you could see gains of 50hp. When i had this auction up i got at least 5 emails a day asking me if they should buy this head (z6 from 92-95 si/ex) for their 00 ex... think people... its the same model car and the same base engine just the newer heads have a square shaped combustion chamber and make a little more power. Its like having a 01 Type R and asking if youd see power gains if you put a 92 gsr head on it... just doesnt make sense...
