There's actually a function in crome for (4) points of vtec Engagement, and disengagement. Go to John Vega, @ Phearable.net. He can help you out.

What is the point of having up to 4 vtec engagements? Specially on a single cam?

If you want it to work correctly you will need to get the ecu that came with the motor. You will also need a wiring diagram for a civic(ferio) that has the motor and buy whatever is missing (if there is anything missing as far as a mini computer or anything)to make it work correctly. No car in the US had this motor so the knowledge is not readily available. If you use the P28 you will have all the solenoids come on like on a D16z6 and not the way that motor was intended. The way the 3stage works is. When the motor is in low RPMs(and under low throttle conditions) it actually runs on 8 valves like the d15bs we have here in the US. The in the Mid RPMs it kicks to regular 16 valve mode. At high rpms(heavy acceleration)the vtec rocker kicks in like in the regular single cam vtec. It is just so you can save alot of gas(like the d15bs) and also get the performance (like d16z6/y
