You cant change the spring rate of a spring you have to buy an all new spring with a specific spring rate.
You keep using the word cheap and its not a good frame of mind. Dont go buying the cheapest set you can find save up and buy what you want so a few months down the road you arent wishing you bought another spring set and waste your money doing so. For your purposes you couldnt go wrong with a set of generic rated GC coilovers or Skunk2 coilovers. You can pick them up for around $250 or more depending on where you look. Just do it right the first time.

I had Neuspeed Race springs with Tokico Blues shocks on my 90 CRX Si for about 8 months. I didnt like em too much. The ride height seemed a bit high and the springs were alittle too soft. Handling wasnt great and the ride was kinda bouncy.

I later figured that I needed a stiffer spring. So I went with generic APC coil overs. And that was about the worst thing I could have done. They are currently on my CRX and the springs are way too stiff. Ride height is cool since I can adjust it but ride quality is pretty much shitty. I like the tight handling but when I hit a bump the springs barely move so my car takes all the shock...my CDs skip my glove box pops open...it sucks. So when my car is running again soon I will be probably be getting some GC coilovers or some Eibach springs.

Will they fit a 1990 CRX Si?
How much you looking to get?

BTW I think I saw you driving on Bruce B. Downs...in the New Tampa area...heading north near Olsen Tire. You looked over at me I think. I was in a white 94 Civic Hatch with clear side markers stock CRX rims. It was about a week ago. Just though Id mention it.

those eibachs wont work on the crx jesse. tried it once already and the rex didnt drop an inch. but the eibachs are a great spring but now a days just about all of them are great so just find a name brand with a decent price and scoop some up.
