What about fat fives, they have a sort of record groove surface on them. Would that be sanded off in the process of polishing the rims?

ok i just did mine check out the pics they are 1986 crx si rims (vintage honda = awesome)

i used the aircraft stripper it took 2 coats then I started with steel wool, moved on to 180 grit paper then 320 x2,400,600,800,1500x2,2000(after doing a dry sand i do a wet sand with the same paper like 2-3 times during the process) i used a electric sander for all of it except the last sanding i did one final go a round by hand, i spend less then 2hrs per a wheel from start to finish, oh yea i used mothers polish to shine them up

i spent less then 50 bucks for all the stuff.

i know it could look a little better if i took longer but look at the difference, its good for my honda or maybe i'll sell them

if anyone knows what they might be worth let me know

those came out good. im more of a fan of doing it all by hand than with the electric stuff. if u wanna get creative, put some mothers on the 1500 and 2000 grit paper and sand with it, and then move to newspaper, and finally use a microfiber to clean the rest off. after that take a rag and LIGHTLY run a coat of wd40 over the entire polished surface. the wd makes it shiny and dries without residue. it works well.

man doing it by hand is not an option, i work in the OR and 1 small cut on your finger and you can't work till it heals, but i might try that i still have them off the car and i would like to see them a little more glossy, what about adding a clear coat??
