He means there is no such thing as a B16Y8 there is a D16Y8 that comes on the 97 Civic EX. Single Cam vtec
The B16 has dual cams about 40 - 60 more horsepower and the engine code would be something like
B16
B16A1
B16A2
B16A3
B16B
As far as "the vtec leaking". You might mean the vtec solenoid is leaking at the gasket. If that is an issue, replace the gasket. Running alot of oil in your motor is not good for valve seals, it could even be why you have oil leaking out the solenoid. Make sure you change your oil every 3 -5 K miles(Everyone has their preference) with the correct oil for your motor and the correct amount of oil.
