Default Similar problem as jdm punk!

Okay so here is the deal i recently bought a motor from a fellow tr member here that is a friend of mine. the engine i bought is a b18a1 with high milage and what i have notice on the motor that it has bad piston rings,..now my biggest concern is my motor miss firing at idle. I still haven't got the time to check what's causing this issue but to me it can be anything i'm also running rich as hell,...anyone have a idea or adivice of what it can be

problems:
running rich, black smoke
miss firing, at idle and high rpm
bad piston ring, grayish white smoke

Oh, and also one more question my brothers friend also said,"if i have everything plugged in right it can also be a bent valve",...can that also be the cause of this problem?

And the motor is on timing w/ all valves adjusted right.

about it misfiring make sure timing is good, make sure the dizzy and cam gears is at 0, get new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. do you have any cel's? what ecu your running? and nobody can tell you if you have a bent valve by guessing get a compression or leakdown test done.

thanks man anyone else got anything.

Ima check what codes the ecu might be throwing me and i'll get back at you on that,....and yes my timing is right i got the gun for the timin belt and i check it,...could it also be the spark plugs. The reason why i bought a new motor is cause i hydro locked it and i had bought a complete swap,...but most of my old block parts i had to use on the new one,...like: alternator, compressor, distributor, spark plug wires, spark plug all original sensors o2 and etc.

And for the ecu part is a stock pr4 obd0

the thing is does obd0 and obd 2 i'm guessing you have work the same way...i did all the plugs again and clean the map sensor with electronic spray cleaner and the miss firing is gone,...now my biggest problem is the piston or the ring...anyone here got gsr piston with ring for sale...

why would you put gsr pistons in an LS, if its not a LS-V you need to put ls pistons and rings, you can usually get a full rebuild kit off ebay for about $250-300 and that includes evrything(pistons, rings, gaskets, water pump, timing belt, ect) thats what i would do just rebuild it, start out fresh
